Power Electronics

People began experimenting with electricity, when Thales of Miletus found that wool coating on amber would make them attractive.

Since the 1900's, devices have used glass or metal panels to control the flow of electricity. With these components low power can be used to replace one. This changed the radio, allowing for more inventions.

In the 1960s and early 1970s transistors and semiconductors began to replace vacuum tubes. Transistors can be made much smaller than vacuum tubes and can operate using less power.

At about the same time, composite circuits (circuits with large numbers of small transistors placed in small pieces of silicon) are widely used. Combined circuits make it possible to reduce the number of components needed to make electronic products and make products much cheaper in general.


What is Electronics

Electronics means the study of the flow of electrons in electrical circuits. The term Electronics comes from electron mechanics which means to study how the electron behaves under a variety of external use conditions. IRE - The Center for Radio Engineers has provided an electronic definition as "the field of science and engineering, dealing with electron devices and their use." Electronic foundations are a major topic in all branches of engineering these days.

Electronics are a study of how to control the flow of electrons. It operates in circuits made up of so-called components and connecting cables that control the flow of electricity and direct it to perform useful functions. The science behind Electronics comes from physics research and is used in practical ways in the field of electrical engineering.

Signal processing circuits within the television use light, color, and audible sound signals obtained to control the output devices of the television. The output device shown may be a cathode ray (CRT) tube or a plasma or liquid crystal display screen. The audio output device may be a magnetic-operated audio speaker. Display output devices convert the light of the processing circuit details and colors to the on-screen image display. An audio device converts used audio information into sounds that can be heard by the audience.
